FDIC-Insured - Backed by the full faith and credit of the U.S. Government
Southside Bank is proud to partner with the Cristo Rey School’s Corporate Work Study program for the 2023/2024 school year. Cristo Rey School, located in Fort Worth, “delivers a career focused, college preparatory education in the Catholic tradition for students with limited economic resources, uniquely integrating rigorous academic curricula with four years of professional work experience and support to and through college. [The school] partners with educators, businesses and communities to enable students to fulfill their aspirations for a lifetime of success.”
Through this partnership, four students will participate in an internship with Southside Bank, primarily in the Commercial Credit Department at UC II in Fort Worth. Students will engage in educational studies three to four days a week while gaining “real-world” work experience at Southside the rest of the work week.
“We are excited to be a first-time partner with Cristo Rey during the school year,” said Chris Katri, Southside’s Senior Credit Officer in Fort Worth. “Cristo Rey has a proven record of success, largely due to this Work Study program, that provides students with not only a solid high school education, but also invaluable work experience that would otherwise not be available. We are excited to see personal and professional growth for the students and how they will further the Bank’s mission at the same time…it’s truly a win win.”
Four students were “drafted” by Southside on August 24th during the school’s “Draft Day.” The four students selected were Jackie Calderon, Leslie Cardenas, Malakai Cardenas, and Melissa Medina.
Each student will be assigned a day, Monday through Thursday, and every fourth Friday, to intern at UC II with the Commercial Credit team.
Southside is proud of this newly established relationship with Cristo Rey and looks forward to working alongside these students. Please help us welcome Jackie, Leslie, Malakai, and Melissa to the Southside team.
